Lancaster County is the second-most populous county in the state of Nebraska. Approximately 300,000 residents call the county home. It occupies nearly 846 square miles and includes the state capitol of Lincoln. While Lincoln is the county seat, Hickman and Waverly are the two other cities within the county, as well as five villages, two census-designated areas, and 14 unincorporated communities.

About the County

This county was established in 1859. One notable face includes Leon Riley (1906–1970), the American minor league baseball player/manager. The state was one of the first several to adopt the nation’s original license plate law in 1922 and upheld it until 2002.
